What this area can tell you.
Discomfort when putting on shoes, getting into a car or changing direction may lead a clinician to examine hip movement and strength. A lump, abdominal symptoms or testicular pain calls for a different medical assessment. Tell the clinician whether pain followed a sudden sporting movement, developed gradually or began after a fall. A useful explanation should distinguish the likely source from other possibilities before recommending exercises, manual care or further investigation.

When to get help sooner
Sudden severe testicular pain needs emergency care. A painful groin lump with vomiting, severe pain after injury or inability to bear weight also needs urgent medical assessment.
